In 2008 and many years after that, Jennifer worked with families reaching out in despair. Jennifer’s parents founded a therapeutic boarding school in the late 90s focused on emotional growth and family restoration.
During her tenure with the family ministry, Jennifer built many industry relationships. One very rewarding role was helping families by sharing knowledge and understanding of the various therapeutic programs and the vast array of options available to their hurting children. Together, Jennifer and Bill provided home-based intervention assistance when the child needed treatment but was unwilling to seek help. Through this experience, they quickly learned the connections developed in the early intervention phase were vital to the success of the long-term treatment for the child.
After traveling to many states and visiting other programs, they recognized the growing need for more quality care options, and in the summer of 2017, they launched Providence Pass. The vision for Providence Pass was to create a nurturing environment for struggling adolescents to find their purpose through relationships, guidance, and a strong community of support.
Providence Pass opened its doors to just a handful of students coming to Florida for a summer experience of therapy, art, activities, and more. When the summer was closing in, they transitioned into long-term care. They added an educational piece by bringing a small homeschool experience to the program with teachers and aides in a one-room classroom.
Since its inception, Providence Pass has experienced many expansions and growth opportunities. In late 2018, they completed a beautiful build-out of a state-of-the-art education and counseling center in Celebration, Florida.
Many additions include diverse therapeutic modalities such as animal-assisted therapy and 20-acre equestrian property, neurofeedback, brain mapping, trauma-focused therapy, a family therapist, and electives such as photography, gymnastics, and art and horseback riding.
Together with the Providence Pass team, Jennifer and Bill firmly believe that the heart can begin to heal with the right leaders, mentors, and counselors guiding you through challenging seasons. Every person is worthy of love and connection. When the heart is whole, life is such a beautiful gift.
